The IT department issues security updates to all campus computers using a program called Tivoli Endpoint Manager.  This will help keep your computer more secure as well as cut down on the number of update popups you may get for programs like Adobe Reader, Flash Player, Firefox, Java, and many others. 

When an update is available for your computer a Tivoli Endpoint Manager window will pop up on your screen.  This window will contain the following text so that you know that it’s an update coming from the IT department and what software will be updated:

The PSU DuBois IT Dept. is issuing an update for the “NAME OF SOFTWARE BEING UPDATED” software on your computer. If you have any questions about this update please call the Help Desk at 375-4858.

This text may also contain a note at the end telling you if a program will close during the update.  After clicking the Take Action button this note will also appear in another window before the update installs. Below is an example of the windows you will see when an update is available.  In this example the Flash Player for Firefox software is being updated.

You will have 2 choices when the Tivoli Endpoint Manager window appears.  You can “Take Action” which will install the update.  You may also “Snooze” the update.  You can snooze the update for up to 24 hours.  After 24 hours the BigFix window will stay on your screen until you click the “Take Action” button.  If for some reason you need to delay the update more than 24 hours please call the Help Desk at 375-4858 and we can reschedule the update for you.
