MBB #3 in Latest USCAA Coaches Poll
The Penn State DuBois Men's Basketball Team is off to a hot start for the 2009-2010 season. That hot start has been rewarded with the #3 National Ranking in the latest USCAA National Poll.
Penn State DuBois will travel to Division II Clarion University on Sunday, December 20 to finish out the first half of the season. Tip off is slated for 7:00 PM.
Lions 1-2 at York College Duals
Competing against a Division III field, the Penn State DuBois Lion Wrestling Team went 1-2 at last weekends York College Duals. The Lions defeated Muhlenburg (48-7) while losing to York College (33-16) and Wilkes (40-0).

Lions Sweep Scranton
The Penn State DuBois Men's basketball team lost in the PSUAC semi-final matchup to top seeded Penn State Beaver by a score of 80-69 tonite. The two teams split their games during the regular season with DuBois winning 103-91 on Dec. 1 and Beaver winning 71-66 on Feb. 2. Beaver's hot shooting and defensive toughness were the deciding factors in the game. DuBois had their worst shooting performance of the season while shooting 35% from the field and making only 16 out of 31 foul shots.
Once again, Marcus Genevro lead the way with 24 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Josh Salter turned in another strong offensive night with 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Jovan Brown rounded out the double figure scorers with 12 points and six rebounds. Chris Dickison added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the game.
Penn State DuBois ended their season 18-9 overall and 14-5 in the PSUAC.
The Penn State DuBois Men's basketball team won their opening round playoff game by a score of 91-88 at Penn College tonight. Marcus Genevro led the way with 23 points. Chris Dickison had another double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Jimmy Higgins had a big game with a double-double of his own adding 13 points and 13 rebounds. Josh Salter scored 14 points on 4 three point baskets and 1 two point basket. Cedrick Williams had a great floor game with 11 points, 6 assists, and 0 turnovers.
"This was a great road playoff win against a very good team."
Penn State DuBois will now play their PSUAC semi-final game on Monday evening at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College. The opponent and game time will be determined on Friday night after the other first round games are complete. Penn State DuBois is now 18-8 overall and 14-4 in the PSUAC.
The Penn State DuBois Lady Lions Finished their season with an 81-41 loss to the number two seed Penn State Beaver Lady Lions. The loss finishes the Lady Lions season with a second straight trip to the PSUAC playoffs. Penn State DuBois reinstated WBB two years ago and have been led by the highly successful Pat Lewis.
The Penn State DuBois Lady Lions, playing in their final game of the season, secured a playoff spot with a 79-51 victory over visiting Penn State Fayette. Beth Pernesky poured in a career high 20 points to lead the Lady Lions. Missy Aul contributed yet another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Andrea Moyer scored 12 points. Penn State DuBois honored 6 members of the team after the game. Nichelle Hoover, Beth Pernesky, Missy Aul, Courtney Shenkle, Kara Carnolvale, and Andrea Moyer all played their final game at Penn State DuBois.
The ladies will now await word on where they will open the play-offs. The game will be Thursday, February 19 at a time and place to be determined.
Cedric Williams and Chris Dickison led all scorers with 26 points as the Penn State DuBois Men’s Basketball defeated Penn State Fayette 95-60. Josh Salter threw in 25 points in the win.
DuBois now will await to hear of where they will travel to for the first round of the PSUAC play-offs. As of press time it looked as if the men will travel to Penn College on Thursday, February 19 for an 8:00 PM start.
Jimmy Higgins and Kevin Neal were honored prior to the game for their careers at Penn State DuBois.
On Saturday, the Lady Lions dropped another close game as Penn State York went on a 7-0 run just before halftime that made the score 37-30 and later proved to be the difference in the game. Despite playing inspired basketball during the second half, the DuBois Lady Lions were unable to overcome the seven point deficit falling by the final score of 69-61. Scoring was spread out with Andrea Moyer (10 points, 5 rebounds), Lauren Donovan (9 points), Nichelle Hoover (8 points), and Whitney Lewis (7 points, 6 rebounds). Missy Aul also hauled in 13 rebounds in the loss.
The Lady Lions play their final home game against Fayette on Monday, February 16, 2009 against Fayette. Game time is 6:00.
The Penn State DuBois Men's continued their hot streak this weekend we a 78-71 overtime win at Penn State York. York came into the game as the first place team in the Southern Division of the PSUAC. The Nittany Lions have won 6 of their last 7 games. With the win, Penn State DuBois improved their record to 15-9 (overall) and 11-5 (PSUAC).
Once again, Chris Dickison lead the Nittany Lions in scoring with 28 points. Josh Salter chipped in with 14 points and 8 rebounds. Marcus Genevro posted his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, and Jovan Brown rounded out the double figure scorers with 12 points.
Penn State DuBois plays their final regular season home game tonight as they take on Penn State Fayette at 7:30pm.
The Penn State DuBois Men's basketball team won a very big conference game last night at Penn State Greater Allegheny by a score of 90-65. DuBois was able to avenge a 66-64 buzzer beating loss to Greater Allegheny on January 23rd. Penn State DuBois started the game with great defense, and disciplined offense to race out to a 40-23 halftime lead. The Lions never looked back as they cruised to a 90-65 victory.
Penn State DuBois was paced by a huge game from freshman forward, Chris Dickison, who poured in 34 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Marcus Genevro added 23 points and 7 rebounds, Josh Salter contributed 17 points and 5 rebounds, and Cedrick Williams rounded out the double figure scorers with 10 points.
Penn State DuBois travels to Penn State York on Saturday, and returns home for the final home game of the regular season on Monday, February 16 (7:30pm).
The Penn State DuBois Lady Lions went to the locker room down 11 at the half. The rest and the talk at the half must have been one for the ages. Penn State DuBois roared back to take a 52-45 victory over visiting Penn State Mont Alto.
Missy Aul led all scorers in the game with 18 points. Aul also hauled down 6 rebounds. Andrea Moyer had 7 points while Brittany Hoover had 6 on 2-4 shooting from downtown.
The Ladies get right back at it on Thursday as they travel to Penn State greater Allegheny for a make-up game. Tipoff is set for 6:00.
The Penn State DuBois Men’s Basketball team raced out to a 51-22 halftime lead and never looked backed defeating Penn State Mont Alto 85-62. Marcus Genevro paced a balanced Lion attack with 22 points followed by Chris Dickison with 20, Josh Salter with 19, and Jovon Brown with 12.
The Lions will look to avenge an earlier loss to Penn State Greater Allegheny as they travel to McKeesport for an 8:00 tip off on Thursday night.
Penn State DuBois Men’s Basketball Team raced out to a 58-24 half time lead in route to a 98-50 victory over Penn State New Kensington on Monday night at the Multipurpose Building Gymnasium. Marcus Genevro paced the Lions with 27 points and 7 rebounds. Josh Salter turned in another solid performance with 19 points and 7 rebounds while Javon Brown and Cedric Williams contributed 14 and 13 points respectively.
The Coach Bennett led Lions sit at 12-9 and 8-5 in the PSUAC. The Lions will play a brutal stretch run on their way to a fourth consecutive play-off appearance as they host Mont Alto on Wednesday, travel to Greater Allegheny on Thursday, visit York on Saturday, and host Fayette on Monday. Right now the Lions could be as high as the fourth seed in the tournament.
The Penn State DuBois Men’s & Women’s Basketball Teams split a PSUAC Double Header on Thursday Night at Fayette. The men defeated Fayette 104-68 while the Women fell 70-59. Both team now have the weekend off as the Men return to play Penn State New Kensignton on Monday at 8:00 in DuBois and both teams host Penn State Mont Alto on Wednesday at the Multipurpose Building Gymnasium.
The Men were paced by sharpshooter Marcus Genevro with 24 points. Jovan Brown has a great game with 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists while Freshman F Chris Dickison tallied 23 points and 4 rebounds.
DuBois forced some early turnovers in the contest with good defensive pressure that led to easy baskets on the offensive end. This victory was a very important conference win as the team now enters the final stretch run toward the PSUAC Play-Offs.
The Penn State DuBois women’s basketball team (6-9) dropped its second game in a row on Thursday night against Penn State Fayette by the score of 70-59.
The Lady Lions were lead by Whitney Lewis (Cameron County) 12 points and 5 rebounds, Brittany Hoover (DuBois CC) 11 points and Kara Carnovale (St. Marys) 11 points. Missy Aul (St. Marys) added 9 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.
Penn State DuBois women return to action next Wednesday, February 11th with a home contest against Penn State Mont Alto. Game time is 6:00.

Congratulations to the over 200 Participants for a Great Semester!
Team Yenzi comprised of Courtney Yenzi, Chris Dunsworth and Matt Stoltz won the 3 on 3 Volleyball Tournament held during the common hour on Wednesday, December 3. Yenzi won the best of three finals match against The Punxy Gang 2-0. The win was actually the third IM title for Courtney Yenzi during the fall semester.
The IM Tournament Season continues with a 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament on Friday, December 5 and concludes with a whiffle ball tournament on Monday, December 8.
In the most competitive contest of the season previously unbeaten No Dude You Are was upset in the 5 v 5 IM Soccer Championships. No Dude took a 2-0 lead in to the half on goals by Austin Boyd. It turned out to be all The Shoes in the second half as they went up 4-3 with a goal in the final two minutes. Playing for the Championship Team, The Shoes, were Joe Palmer, Brett McCracken, Courtney Yenzi, Chris Dunsworth, and Chissy Baul. Congratulations to all 5 teams who competed this year. It was a great season!!
Blue defeated No Dude You Are in the fall flag football IM championship 24-13. Their 2 playoff victories brought Blue’s overall record to 10-1 on the season. No Dude You Are finished the season at 8-2. Playing for Blue were Chris Dickison, Marcus Genevro, Jimmy Higgins, Kyle Mahoney, Cedric Williams, Kara Carnovale, and Nichelle Hoover. The championship game concluded Session I of the IM season which saw over 100 participants compete in Flag Football. Session II will begin Friday, October, 17 with 5 v 5 Soccer, Ping Pong, and Dodge Ball.

Turnovers and free throw woes doomed the Penn State DuBois Lions in a crucial PSUAC match-up with first place Penn State Beaver as they lost 71-66 on Monday night. Penn State DuBois actually led with 1 minute remaining in the contest but couldn’t hold on.
Marcus Genevro poured in 20 points to lead the Lions. Jovan Brown had 12 and Chris Dickison and Josh Salter each contributed 11 points apiece. The Lions will look to rebound when they play at Penn State Fayette on Thursday 2/5. The WBB game will start at 6:00 with the MBB to tip off roughly 20 minutes following the women.
Jovan Brown was one of four Penn State DuBois Lions who scored double figures as they defeated Penn State New Kensington 102-66. Brown netted 24 points and hauled down 6 rebounds for the Lions who are now 6-4 in the PSUAC. Josh Salter turned in a 21 point, 5 rebound, 7 assist performance while Chris Dickison scored 20 and pulled down 9 rebounds. Cedric Williams chipped in 15 points in the lopsided win.
“We played great defense and were really unselfish”, stated Head Coach Dave Bennett.
The Lion will now travel to Penn State Beaver on 2/2 for a crucial match-up of two of the top teams in the PSUAC. Penn State DuBois was victorious over the 11-2 Beaver squad earlier in the season. With the play-offs right around the corner this game might prove who is indeed the best in the west.
The inside duo of Missy Aul and Andrea Moyer combined for 25 points and 13 rebounds as Penn State DuBois defeated Penn State Hazleton 64-52. Penn State Dubois jumped out to a 13 point halftime lead to propel them to the victory. Lauren Donovan led the Lady Lions with 9 rebounds. Coach pat Lewis’ ladies now sit at 6-8 on the season and 4-5 in the PSUAC.
The Lady Lions look to continue their strong push to the playoffs when the travel to McKeesport on Wednesday for a rematch with Penn State Greater Allegheny.

The Penn State DuBois lady Lions dropped a PSUAC Contest on Friday night 73-51. Penn State DuBois trailed by only 3 at the half but were outscored 36-17 in the second half as Greater Allegheny pulled away for the win.
Missy Aul led the way for Penn State DuBois with 10 points and 5 rebounds while Andrea Moyer also had 10 points. Brittany Hoover tallied 8 points in the losing cause.
Penn State DuBois looks to rebound with another home game against Penn State Hazleton Saturday (1-24). Tip Off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Rochon Washington hit a last second runner to give Penn State Greater Allegheny a 66-64 victory over Penn State DuBois. Marcus Genervro was wide right on his last ditch effort for half court. Genevro led the Lions with 19 points followed by Chris Dickison with 18 and Josh Salter with 11. The Lions were just 13-27 from the free throw line. Dickison also had 10 rebounds for the double-double.
The Lions look to bounce back on Saturday as they host Penn State Hazleton at 3:00.
Missy Aul’s game high 20 points and 13 rebounds led the Penn State DuBois Lady Lions to a 62-42 victory over visiting Penn State Wilkes Barre. Aul shot 8-13 from the floor. A group of Lady Lions scored 6 points each, Beth Pernesky, Brittany Barrett, Lauren Donovan, and Andrea Moyer. Aul also led the Lady Lions in assists with 3. The Lady Lions will look to continue their winning ways when they host Penn State Greater Allegheny on Friday January 23. Tipp Off is set for 6 PM with everyone in attendance receiving Penn State DuBois Athletics T-Shirt compliments of S & T Bank and Fullington Bus Company.
Marcus Genevro paced 4 Penn State DuBois Lion in double figures with 22 points as Penn State DuBois defeated Penn State Wilkes Barre 86-54. Genevro also hauled down 8 rebounds on his way to being named the “Johnson Motors” Player of the Game. Chris Dickison and Jovan Brown each had 14 while Josh Salter added 12 including a thunderous dunk in the second half. The men are now off for a week before hosting Penn State Greater Allegheny on Friday, January 23 at 8:00 PM.
The Penn State DuBois Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams are taking the student side of student-athlete to new levels. The Fall 2008 Semester saw the teams record tremendous numbers in the classroom. The Women’s team finished the semester with a team GPA of 3.4 while the Men’s Team compiled a 3.24 average for the fall semester. Both teams are a great representation of Penn State DuBois and prove that hard work can bring success on and off the court.
Please mark your calendars for Friday, January 23 when a white out invades the Multipurpose Gymnasium on the campus of Penn State DuBois. The basketball teams will face PSUAC rival Penn State Greater Allegheny. All fans will receive a Penn State DuBois Athletics T-Shirt to support their favorite student-athletes. The Penn State DuBois men’s basketball team lost to Penn College on Wednesday night 94-89. Marcus Genevro lead the Lions with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jimmy Higgins had a huge game with a double-double scoring 18 points and hauling down 16 rebounds. Chris Dickison scored 22 points while Josh Salter scored 15 points and handed out 5 assists.
The Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they host Penn State Wilkes Barre. The women’s game starts at 1:00 and will be followed by the men around 2:45. There will be a pregame ceremony to honor Marcus Genevro for recently eclipsing the 1,000 career scoring mark.
The Penn State DuBois women’s basketball team (4-6) picked up its third win in a row as they upset the University of Pittsburgh-Titusville, 68-62 on Wednesday night. Entering the game, Pitt Titusville was ranked sixteenth nationally by the USCAA. The win avenged an earlier season loss to the Lady Panthers.
The Lady Lions were lead by Missy Aul (St. Marys) as she scored 15 points and pulled down 19 rebounds. She was joined by Brittany Hoover (DuBois CC) 15 points and Lauren Donovan (Oswayo Valley) with 14 points.
The Penn State DuBois Men's Basketball team won an impressive non-conference game last night as they traveled to Pitt-Titusville. Entering the game PSU DuBois was ranked 7th in USCAA Division II, and Pitt-Titusville was ranked 8th in USCAA Division I. Penn State DuBois won by a score of 95-70. The game also included a milestone as Marcus Genevro scored his 1000th career point for Penn State DuBois. Marcus finished the game with 20 points, giving him 1001 points thus far in his career. Chris Dickison lead the way with 26 points, followed by Genevro with 20, Josh Salter scored 18 points, Jimmy Higgins had 12 points and 9 rebounds, and Jovan Brown chipped in with 10 points.
"This was a great road win after a long holiday break. I thought our guys shared the ball very well tonight. The key to the game was our guards pushing the ball on offense and our defensive pressure. Pitt Titusville was a little short handed tonight, so we were able to use our depth to our advantage."
Penn State DuBois is now 8-5 overall and 4-1 in the PSUAC. Penn State DuBois will return to PSUAC action as they travel to Penn College next Wednesday, 1/14/09. The Lions will return home next Saturday, 1/17/09, for a conference game against Penn State Wilkes-Barre starting at 2:30pm.
Penn State DuBois will add Men’s Wrestling for the 2009-2010 School Year. The team will compete in the NCWA with their sights set on USCAA recognition in the future. Former Brockway head Coach and D-9 Coach of the Year Matt Park will lead the Lions on the mat.
