Bennett Named PSUAC Coach of the Year
Coach Dave Bennett was selected as the Penn State University Athletic Conference (PSUAC) Coach of the Year for men’s basketball. Bennett’s team finished the season with a 21-9 record. Along the way the team won the PSUAC Team Title and was awarded an automatic bid to play in the United States Collegiate Athletics Association (USCAA) National basketball Championships.
The recipient of the Coach of the Year Award is selected by men's basketball coaches in the PSUAC, who cast votes for who they believe is the most deserving coach.
"Being named as the PSUAC Coach of the Year is an honor for our entire coaching staff," said Bennett, giving credit to his team and fellow coaches for their support. "This is a tribute to the hard work put in by our players and the dedication of our assistant coaches."
Bennett is in his sixth season at the helm of the basketball program. He assisted one year prior to taking over the reins in October of 2006.
In his first year as head coach, Bennett led the team to a 24-7 record and a second place finish in the USCAA National Basketball Championship. He followed that up with another trip to the USCAA Championships in 2010, finishing in fourth place with a record of 22-8.
