5/5/2011 —

DuBois – Teachers looking to further their education and keep their skills current can take advantage of Continuing Education Opportunities in St. Marys this summer.

Penn State DuBois is offering the Blended Learning Instructional Series for teachers.  The program consists of two three credit courses that can be completed as a series, or taken individually.

Introduction to Computers for Educators will provide training for integrating technology into classroom lessons. They'll work specifically with applications like Slideshare, Voicthread, and Skype. The course is offered from 6:00 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. on Tuesdays from May 17, through June 21, at the Community Education Council (CEC) on Erie Avenue, in St. Marys.  There will also be an additional online course component.

Using the Internet in the Classroom will introduce teachers to methods for using the internet effectively in their lessons. They'll learn to apply the skills learned in Introduction to Computers for Educators to create and evaluate lesson plans for the next school year using Bloom's Taxonomy and International Society for Technology in Education standards. It will be offered from 6:00 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. on Tuesdays from June 28, through August 9, at the CEC, with an additional online course component.
