Bring a friend to Penn State DuBois

3/17/2006 —

DuBois – Penn State DuBois is celebrating Adult Learner Week by hosting the annual “Bring a Friend to Class Days” program during the week of March 27-31. Throughout the week, students are encouraged to bring a friend, spouse, or family member to class.

The program’s intent is to provide current students, with a special emphasis on adult learners, with an opportunity to share their Penn State DuBois experience with others.

Furthermore, the event allows anyone interested in attending the campus to observe, and participate in, a class of his or her choice.

“Bring a Friend to Class Days” is also open to the general public, in the event there is someone who does not yet have a campus “friend.” Community members participating in the event are asked to contact the Penn State DuBois Office of Student and Enrollment Services at (814)375-4720, which will provide a Lion Ambassador for each attendee. Anyone interested in experiencing a day in the life of a Penn State DuBois student is encouraged to attend.

Students taking part in the event, who will be bringing a friend to class, are asked to notify their professors in advance, so there will be no confusion concerning the newcomer in class.

As in years past, Penn State DuBois hopes this year’s event will invite more adult learners to the campus and provide the entire community with an opportunity for success. Many adult learners have expressed their appreciation of the program, and of their experience with the Penn State DuBois campus.

“I made the decision to attend Penn State while still serving on active duty with the United State Coast Guard in 1997,” current adult learner, and business major, Michael White said. “I realized Penn State DuBois was where I wanted to be.

“I have found the interaction with the faculty and students to be very beneficial to my education. As an adult learner, I respect the education I am receiving here, as I know how important it will be in my career and life beyond Penn State.”

There will also be a variety of campus programs offered throughout week.
