Seven basketball players at Penn State DuBois named Academic All-Conference
(DuBois)Seven men's basketball players at Penn State DuBois have been named to the Spring 2005 Penn State University Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference team.
The seven students honored for the spring semester were: Jake Altemus of Penn Run; Brenton Decker of Bellefonte; Brandon Garzel of Austin; Todd Hosband of Port Matilda; Adam Houck of Snow Shoe; Jason Romagna of Cherry Tree, and Dustin Walter of Reynoldsville.
To be eligible for this recognition, a player must have either a 3.0 grade point average or higher in the semester of season competition or an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at Penn State.
"We congratulate these players not only for their dedication on the hardwood, but also in the classroom," says Sean Kelly, director of student and enrollment services at the campus.
Kelly also recognized the members of the Learning Center staff for their support of Penn State DuBois athletics. The center hosts a series of "study skills" sessions for the varsity athletes.
In all during the 2004-2005 varsity athletic seasons, 23 varsity athletes at the campus were recognized as members of the Academic All Conference teams for participating in their respective sports and maintaining academic standards.
