LuAnn Demi, MS, OTR/L, joined Penn State DuBois as its OTA Program Coordinator in August 1999. Prior to that she worked as a Staff Occupational Therapist for 6 years in both Pennsylvania and Arkansas. Her experience includes treating clients in acute care, rehabilitation, outpatient, and home health settings.
LuAnn received her Bachelor of Science degree (1984) in Rehabilitation Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Science (1993) in Occupational Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia - Virginia Commonwealth University.
LuAnn is trained as a CarFit Event Coordinator (a program aimed at fitting senior drivers to their vehicles for safety and independence), has organized training for students to become CarFit technicians, and has hosted several community events for this purpose. She has presented a workshop and several poster sessions at both state and national Occupational Therapy Associations annual conferences. Additionally, students have accompanied LuAnn to both state and national conferences and have been co-presenters of poster sessions.
LuAnn has been the Club Advisor to the Student Occupational Therapy Club on campus since 1999. She is also chairman of the OT Advisory Board which serves to support the OT program through both campus and community sectors. LuAnn is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association, and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
